We visited here recently. While the decor and service was great, it really wasn't for us. The food was mediocre at best and it was so overpriced for what was offered. Won't be visiting again.
Stayed in the rooms at the restaurant for three nights with friends We decided to eat in the restaurant on the Saturday night and it was absolutely fantastic Lovely room and great ambience. The group had 3 courses and one was better than the next...More
The first experience last year was so unforgettable, I had to return. Again I was not disappointed. Amazing from start to finish. Even the warm in house sourdough bread brought me joy. Wine selection on point and service was also excellent. All local produce with...More
Such a beautiful restaurant with a wonderful welcome and amazing food that satisfies and treats your taste buds like nothing else. The staff, the ambience, the food, the welcome and your comfort is their priority at OAR and you are very well taken care of...More
This is a big step up from the pub food available in the rest of Doolin. The chef has some creative adventurous dishes, but a little overdone for our pallets The steak was excellent, but you really need Gorgonzola sauce? The vegetarian in our group had...More
I had the chance to visit Oar recently and I was so pleasently suprised to find a restaurant like this in Doolin. Unlike any other of the restaurants in the area I loved the the beautiful decor and friendly atmosphere. However it was the food...More
My friend and I went for dinner last night. We had been an excellent dinner there previously. We opted for the three course menu at 35€. I ordered pan-seared scallops and steak which was cooked exactly as I asked and the cheesecake for dessert sooo delicious. The...More
Stumbled across this little beauty of a restaurant last weekend on a few days away. Selection of food on the menu, presentation, flavors & tastes were excellent. Loved the atmosphere & the staff could not have been more helpful. Best of luck to the owner,...More
Myself and my wife visited this restaurant in October. The food was fantastic, the service was fantastic. We would certainly recommend this restaurant to anyone travelling through Doolin.
Amazing value, amazing food, amazing service in a beautifully styled restaurant. But most amazingly the Cheescake cream dessert off the main menu. Worth a visit in lovely surroundings and a real treat
This is our 3rd visit, and it’s a pleasure every time. Style with substance, from the warm welcome to the the fantastic flavours. We are usually cheese people but pictures of deserts had me tempted. My fella had the special tiramisu which was delicious and...More
I was recommended to visit Oar by friends and last month we made the trip from Dublin and it was so worth it. The staff were friendly but professional with a great local knowledge of the food, produce and wines. The restaurant setting is simplistic...More
We ate here in August. We had the beef Carpaccio, ham hock terraine, Duck, fish special & shared the cheese board. Food was locally source. Fine dining with great flavours but not over complicated. Just the right seasoning too. We ordered the Douro wine from...More
We stayed at the Oar for 3 nights 30/7/20 until 2/8/20. Fantastic location and very comfortable stay. The best thing about the Oar is the restaurant! We ate there for 3 nights in a row as it was outstanding food, beautifully presented and great atmosphere....More
Doolin is great place to visit but like a lot of tourist locations it has its fair share of over priced and over rated restaurants / cafes. Happily we found The Oar and it’s far and away the best paper to eat in the locality....More
OAR restaurant and accomadation has WOWED us again. We were treated to such a VIP level of service, care and attention and the most beautifully cooked and presented locally sourced food that is such a wonderful combination of flavour and freshness and presentation, A pure...More

We had the absolute pleasure of dining at Oar last Thursday. The food was second to none. Everyone at our table felt they had just experienced a culinary delight from start to finish it was perfection. Our excellent host Kieran went above and beyond to...make our dining experience exceptional, from wine selection to desert wines and even a lift home he was the ultimate host. Thank you for an excellent night !! Bravo ! More
A simply delightful meal, great service, our waitress was happy to help with choices. One thing I love in a restaurant is when you can see the care and attention that has gone into every detail.; the room, the table set with beautiful linen and...More
Oar, Doolin, Co Clare, Ireland Paid our first trip to the newly opened Oar in Doolin. This is a restaurant, not a pub. It is a super dining room, bright, clean and modern. Obviously created by someone with an eye for detail. Relaxing and comfortable....More
Make no mistake despite my cheesy review title The Oar is a place of seriously excellent food. They describe it as rustic fine dining but I would say more like refined fine dining. The Chefs clearly understand flavour, flavour combinations coupled with first class technique....More
Really lovely delicious 5 star food in a charming, stylish and beautiful setting. Much attention has been paid to details, offering a top-notch dining experience. This was one of the highest quality meals I've had anywhere in the world. In fact, we were so taken...More
We have lived in Clare for over 10 years and Covid has allowed us to visit several places on our wish list. The Oar was the first one. Centrally located in Doolin, with comfortable accommodation, we took the dog (why are there not more dog...More
An amazing culinary experience from start to finish. If in Doolin and want amazing irish food using locally sourced ingredients...this is the place to go....and really something special.
We dined in Oar on our last night in Doolin and it did not disappoint. The menu is well thought out and there is an extensive wine list. Each course was a delight but the blackcurrant soufflé to finish was the highlight of the meal....More
We were lucky enough to stay at the rooms above Oar restaurant and so we came upon the restaurant this way. However, if you’re anywhere nearby - Doolin, Lahinch, Cliffs of Moher or Ennis, it’s worth the trip. It’s really world class - food, wine...More

Lovely Room. Others seemed to enjoy their meals. Mine was nothing special. They couldnt make me a suace to go with Pork that didnt have milk in it so they gave me Olive Oil. That was the best they could do. Seriously.
I visited with my mother to celebrate her birthday and it was a great experience. The food is EXCELLENT and the staff is very attentive and friendly. I would definitely eat here again!
We discovered this place last year while on a road trip to the Irish Open Golf tournament. We had a wonderful meal on that occasion, so much so, we decided to return in July this year. After being in lockdown for so many weeks, we...More
Had a delicious dinner at Oar recently. From the service, ambience, food and wine, we couldn’t fault it! Food portions are the perfect size. Wouldn’t normally choose a dessert but so glad I did as it was well worth it! We also stayed in their...More
We visited Oar on a recommendation, we were told it was worth a visit since we were in the area. Expecting a "nice" meal, we booked, organised a Taxi and arrived outside what looked like a private house. We entered and were shown into a...More
I had a staycation in Doolin last august with my daughter. We both love our food & managed to get a booking in Oar. It didn’t disappoint. The food & drinks were really good. What made our night even more, was the service. It’s not...often you get great food & service together. The manager Kieran was fantastic. He recommended drinks to us & checked in on us that we were ok through out the evening. He also made sure we got home ok. I was so impressed with Doolin & the great community spirit there. We stayed in Sheedy’s. They had recommended Oar to us for dinner. It’s great to see local businesses support each other. True Irish hospitality!! I’m looking forward to getting back to Doolin this summer & hopefully will have the joy of experiencing both places again. Well done to all involved 🙂I believe congratulations are in order for a recent award received 👏🏻 More

Had the early bird menu which was 28 euros I think.Very tasty with lovely staff making it a great night.
The owner has committed to providing an alternative to the pub food available elsewhere in Doolin. Good selection of reasonably priced wine compliments a menu that provides flavors to the local meat and fish that really bring the protein alive.
we’ve found the best restaurant in County Clare - it‘s the Oar in Doolin, run by Kieran and his team. We had such a wonderful time there yesterday evening and just had to spread the word. Service is top notch and genuinely friendly. The dining...More
