What can I say about a restaurant that leaves you speechless. The food was absolutely delicious and amazingly presented. My parents decided to take myself and my fiancé for dinner to celebrate our engagement. The wine was also excellent with a great list. The setting...More
A lovely location and lovely staff welcomes you to a great experience. We had soup and scallops for starter and ribeye and risotto for main - all 4 were just brilliant. Creative, balanced and super tasty. Then came the cheesecake for desert - a perfect...More
We were able to walk to Oar from our B&B. A warm greeting welcomed us. This is definitely not a pub but a higher end restaurant. After ordering a bottle of wine to share, we all decided to order from a fixed price menu of...More
A simply delightful meal, great service, our waitress was happy to help with choices. One thing I love in a restaurant is when you can see the care and attention that has gone into every detail.; the room, the table set with beautiful linen and...More
We were booked for an 8:30pm seating. We were brought to our table at 9:30pm and we got our starters at 10pm. Mains at 10:30pm. At that point we were too tired to notice the food. It was my 50th birthday dinner and it was...extremely disappointing. Even though it was noted on the booking there was no mention of it by staff. Not even a token glass of champagne or limoncello. All in all a forgettable experience. More
Lovely hosts, helpful, attentive and friendly.. beautiful food with great attention to flavors and presentation.. restaurant has a lovely warm atmosphere and we will definitely be returning..
My sister and I stayed at the rooms at The Oar Restaurant last night. Unfortunately we missed the memo and did not reserve a table in advance. Roxy and Ciaran went over and above to squeeze us in despite being fully booked. The food, wine...More
Rarely have we gone to a restaurant where we enjoyed our time so much we truly wanted to stay all night-- the Oar and the staff went over and beyond what we could have asked for in a dining experience! Roxie welcomed us with her...beautiful smile and winsome service and from that moment on, we were hooked! The menu exceeded our expectations as each course was, in one word, extraordinary! Kieran is SUCH a delight and walked us through how the menu was prepared as well as the wine selection which was amazing. My husband had the summer salad and I had the Doolin crab for our starters. Truly we have never had such a delicious summer salad that was so fresh and delicious! The crab was perfect in presentation as well as taste...with spices that you must try yourself! We then had the Salmon and the Lamb...to say it was the best I have ever had is not an exaggeration! If this review could be 4D so you could see and smell them both, you would truly be amazed. We finished with the dark chocolate truffle cake and the vanilla panacotta and Roxie made the most marvelous Spanish coffees! Incredible! My husband and I have been to Michelin star restaurants all over the world, but this one is exceeds them all in both service, food and ambience! Thank you to Kieran and Roxie! We will shout from the rooftops for folks to try your beautiful restaurant! We will definitely be back with as many friends as we can bring:) Bless you and thank you for a most remarkable evening! I visited oar restaurant in Doolin, Co. Clare on 25th May with friends for dinner, and to say that i was surprised and impressed in equal measure is a massive understatement. Whilst the setting, decor, atmosphere, staff, wine list, attention to detail & quality of...More
We visited here recently. While the decor and service was great, it really wasn't for us. The food was mediocre at best and it was so overpriced for what was offered. Won't be visiting again.
I can’t adequately describe how good the food was you really need to taste it!!! Every single bites of our meals from starter to main course and dessert was delicious and well presented. This is an exceptional restaurant, not fussy, a homely feel, yet very...More
I’ve waited a year to write this review. My family’s experience here was so bad, my mother asked me not to write anything g to wait a year and if I still felt like writing, then do. Well here I am. Last august myself and...several family members stayed here. I booked specifically because I have a dog and my sisters family have a dog. I spoke to Kieran on a couple of occasions prior to the stay and he could not have been nicer. Or more accommodating. So then we visit. My mother and sister and daughter were there the night before I arrived. Myself. And another sister her children and 2 small dogs arrived for dinner. There were 10 of us for dinner. Some had good food, some had great food, one had an ok main course. But we were all in agreement about the scallops. Consequently the next day on check out we all advised the waitress of our thoughts. On principle I refused to pay for them but paid a 20% tip on the. Rest of the meal. 30 minutes later I’m driving up the road with my mother brother in law and sister. And Louie the dog, and the phone rings, and it’s Kieron. And he is in a rage. He could barely speak, foaming at the mouth. He was on speaker and I advised him I was with my family driving along narrow country roads. But he want having it. He was disgusted. What did I know about scallops? What was I expecting. Scallops are supposed to be served cold. And raw? Nobody’s ever complained about them before. I never told him my sister had a dog. Your whole family were disrespectful. (They’re the absolute opposite) How dare my sister write a bad review on booking.com) On and on he went. My mother was really upset. She noted the man was clearly in a rage. I advised him I could not discuss my sisters review as I did not write it. I advised him he’d no business being in business if he could not respond to critical feedback. I had to cut him off. It was so upsetting. When I got to Kinvara. and dropped my mother off I rand him back. He said ‘you’re alright, I’ve calmed down now’ I told him that I was delighted for him that he’d calmed down. But I had not..... You remember it Kieron. The worst dining and accommodation experience I’ve ever had. August bank holiday 2020. All the rave reviews and there’s something altogether different underneath. More
Recently had dinner here with 7 friends. Food and service was fantastic. Food was beautifully presented and between us we sampled the full menu - everything was beautifully cooked and full of flavour. Definitely worth a visit

The view from the outside is sparse but very neat and welcoming. Inside follows the same path - gray walls, loads of votives, fresh flowers and a welcoming staff. They had a limited selection of spirits, but the Laphroig was a perfect beginning for my...More
I had a staycation in Doolin last august with my daughter. We both love our food & managed to get a booking in Oar. It didn’t disappoint. The food & drinks were really good. What made our night even more, was the service. It’s not...often you get great food & service together. The manager Kieran was fantastic. He recommended drinks to us & checked in on us that we were ok through out the evening. He also made sure we got home ok. I was so impressed with Doolin & the great community spirit there. We stayed in Sheedy’s. They had recommended Oar to us for dinner. It’s great to see local businesses support each other. True Irish hospitality!! I’m looking forward to getting back to Doolin this summer & hopefully will have the joy of experiencing both places again. Well done to all involved 🙂I believe congratulations are in order for a recent award received 👏🏻 More

Iontach ar fad. Oíoche speisialta. Oar is truly an amazing place. Kieran and his team were outstanding.very different and top class.
Hands down, for me dinner at the Oar Restaurant was the highlight of my trip to Doolin. The atmosphere is refined and relaxed, the food delicious, fresh and creative. The wine…wow. Just so nice to get such great food and wine pairings. Like most successful...restaurants, it is the passion, knowledge and engagement of the owners that make or break an experience. Kieran and his staff are impeccable hosts. If you give yourself over to their recommendations you will have a superb dining experience. We were a family of 5, three generations and everyone was extremely happy with their experience. Thrilled to discover this gem in County Clare. We had the crab, and fresh parsnip soup appetisers. Quite the subtle explosion of flavour! Entrees were Lamb, Pork, Steak, Salmon and vegetarian. All excellent. Desserts only had four options but each incredibly delicious. Did I mention the wine ? Absolute perfection! More
Second time here, even better than the first! Loved every mouthful - excellent food, lovely relaxed atmosphere and a warm welcome from Kieran and his staff...you will not be disappointed.

We chose the Oar based on other reviews, but could not get a reservation during our trip. We asked to be put on a cancellation list, and to our delight, we got a phone call to say we had a table. It is a beautiful...room, the design detail is gorgeous, from the salt and pepper thingies to the wine glasses, the lampshades, the artwork and obviously, the food & wine. We had great craic with Kieran, the owner, and the staff were wonderful. If you are a foodie and love the experience of eating in a lovely place where the staff clearly care about every detail, this is it. More
Lovely Room. Others seemed to enjoy their meals. Mine was nothing special. They couldnt make me a suace to go with Pork that didnt have milk in it so they gave me Olive Oil. That was the best they could do. Seriously.
